An ITIN (Individual Taxpayer Identification Number) is a number issued by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for individuals who do not have a Social Security number, but need to comply with the country's tax laws.
Anyone who needs to comply with U.S. tax requirements, but is not eligible for an SSN, can apply for an ITIN. This includes:
- Individuals who do not have legal status in the U.S., but need an ITIN to comply with U.S. tax laws, such as undocumented immigrants.
- Dependents or spouses of U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
- Non-resident aliens or non-resident aliens temporarily conducting business or working in the U.S.
- Foreign nationals operating businesses or independent practices (such as freelancers) in the U.S.
- Some students or exchange visitors
- Non-U.S. investors
After you complete your form, an agent will contact you within 72 hours. From there, we will ask you to verify your identity and finalize your application with your signature. Keep in mind that the faster you respond to agent requests, the sooner we can submit your application!
After submission, it can take 8-12 weeks for the IRS to process an ITIN application and provide a response.
We will need a scan of your passport to process your ITIN application, as well as information about any U.S. visa and foreign tax identification numbers (if applicable).
โ
If you are also filing your taxes as part of the ITIN application, we will need information and documents related to your income for the last tax year (Form W-2, Form 1099-NEC, etc.).
Our service includes a 100% money back guarantee, which means that we will issue a full refund if your application is not approved.
We understand that this news may cause concern. Recently, the IRS signed an agreement that allows immigration authorities to request tax information in very specific cases, primarily when there is a final order of deportation or an active criminal investigation. This does not mean that information will automatically be shared for everyone who applies for an ITIN. The IRS is still obligated to protect taxpayer confidentiality, and any request must follow a legal process.
Applying for an ITIN is a personal decision. If you have any doubts about how this change may affect you, we recommend that you talk to a trusted immigration or tax advisor who can guide you according to your situation.
